when nike first tried to get their foot in the door of the skateboard shoe industry in 1997 it was met with a cold welcome, up against competitors like dc, globe, es, vans and emerica they didn’t really stand a chance within the core skateboarding market. in 2002 they first release the nike sb dunk although it is not until 2004 that they sign paul rodriguez as the first team member and now almost 2 decades later he has more signature pro model shoes than any other skateboarder on the planet. in recent years the nike dunk has seen a rejuvenation in popularity with some models fetching upwards of 5 figures. nike sb have not been shy with collaborations over the years with some of the most popular pieces from brands including supreme, diamond supply, ben and jerrys and supreme
